Bassetlaw Lib Dems reject harmful anti-trans motion
On 3rd February, Reform UK councillors are bringing an anti-trans, discriminatory motion to an Extraordinary Meeting of Bassetlaw District Council. It misrepresents the law and would increase harm and exclusion for trans people at a time of rising hostility.
Bassetlaw Lib Dems believe the motion misrepresents the law and risks increasing harm to Bassetlaw’s trans community at a time when they are already experiencing heightened hostility.
We reject any attempt to single out or vilify a small minority of trans people who are simply seeking to live safely and with dignity. We will attend the council meeting in solidarity with our trans neighbours, friends, and family members, and we encourage others who share these values to do the same.
We need to reaffirm commitment to equality, dignity, and safety for EVERYONE.
So far, Bassetlaw Lib Dems have:
1) Encouraged people sign the open letter - Sign here
2) Invited people to join us outside of Worksop Town Hall from 5:30pm on 3rd February in solidarity.
Trans people...
